An uncle of mine is an aspiring author. He has written a book on the history of earth and progress it has made since the mankind evolved. He wants to bring his book in public, but wants to copyright the book first, before handling it to any publisher. Can anyone give me all the information or how-to of copyrighting a book in India.

An author who publish any intellectual work automatically become holder of the copyright of the published material as per the law and it should be mentioned on the first pages of the book also 'C' copyright by the author/publisher any material in part or whole can not be reproduced without the written consent of the author/publisher

Ya, u can get copyright for this book before its publication from the copyright office in Delhi

there's no longer something particular you should do. decrease than the Berne convention, which India is a signatory of and has applied, all creators at once carry copyright on the works they convey.

contact a lawyer to copyright the books from intellectual property office. search from web and send through RPAD they will register you have to pay the charges for this. do it immediately .
