Most probably you have downloaded the avi video. All the videos that we use are actually compressed using some format. Now the video players (real player, media player etc.) uses the codecs to uncompress these and to play these. These codecs are eithr built in the media player, or they must be externally installed. the codecs used for avi files are normally divx and xdiv and these must be instaleld in your system externally. When the media player opens the files the first thing that video tells is its codec format. Then the player will search for that codec on system, and use it to play the video.
You can go to free-codecs.com and install the codecs needed for your video. Search on net on how to find which codec your video needs.

First of all not all the videos can be played in a Real Player or Winamp player or for that matter any player........usually the files that u download from Rapidshare are ripped versions of the original print, so in order to reduce the size of the file that is being uploaded the person who rips the file wud rip it, so as to play it in formats that support a lower file size.......and the best example for this is a VLC Media Player......apart from that there is one more player that can play those file i.e Nero Showtime Media Player that comes with u r Nero Burning software........
The best option is to download and install the VLC Media Player . u can find it under this link:

That must be the problem of some missing codecs in ur system. download codecs from free-codec.com, which would solve the problem and better u try to play it on windows media player, which supports too many codecs.
