It varies, I know the Delaware of Oklahoma get $150 per year and a school bag. I have spoken with some Lakota that receive $30.00 per mo. There are programs for housing etc, but most tribes are at the poverty level . Native Americans usually appose Casinos but it is a source to build schools and hospitals and support Native Police ect.

NO NO NO. at the beginning you're able to be a member of a Federally regarded Tribe or united states. 2d, the individuals of the tribe or united states are not getting a examine from the government. The tribe or united states does get some money from the government, however the quantity of that money has been reducing via the years. And maximum of it is going for issues like well being care, hospitals, faculties etc, not the guy member of the tribe. right now we've casinos and the money from those is going to change the money from the government. we are construction hospitals, faculties, well being care centers, dialysis centers, housing, etc. maximum individuals of a tribe or united states residing on the reservation are nevertheless residing below the poverty point.

Well Barbo, it's enough to leave you hungry and angry while living the opposit end of the American Dream. The truth behind many tribes still living in sub-standard conditions - Tribal lands worth their weight in gold - Big business wants the lions share, just as all through history - after a while it becomes a standard practice - The 21st Century rolls in, still accepted practice - against the law and still the practice is alive and well in main stream America.
If that's not enough for you take time out and go kick your pet.
If the non casino tribes were allowed to market their own products they would be as successful as the casino tribes. Where do you draw the line that frees Indian Country to join the rat race?

1. All tribes who disperse checks give out different amounts of money.
2. Not all tribes can afford to disperse checks (this is true even if they have casinos, just a common stereotypes)
3. Some tribes choose to spend money providing scholarships, tribal housing etc... and don't have money left over to disperse money.
4. Monthly checks are called per capita
5. Per capita can be anywhere from 25.00 mo. to about 2,000 mo (highest i've known of)
6. Per capita is dispersed only to enrolled members and sometimes only to certain enrolled members (like they might have to be on first tribal rolls)
7. Some tribes choose to put money into trust until person turns 18 (can use only to go to school) or 21 (can have access to money). The rules of this vary among tribe.
8. The check is money provided from Native tribal revenues like casinos or other money making ventures, not from government.
It can sometimes be from government but only for a certain alloted amount (usually payback from a treaty) and when this runs out, it runs out.
9. If you are an enrolled member you don't necessarily have to live on the reservation to get your per capita (this is for tribes who do have per cap.)
10. People are saying like 10,000+ per capita. That is either the whole tribes per cap. or per capita (per year not month). Native people do not get 10,000 + $ per month per person. That's ridiculous.

Hope this helps!

They only receive a check if they belong to a tribe that has casinos. Or welfare if they are unemployed with children. The San Manuel Indians where I used to live got $30,000 per month from the casino profits.
I think you have been misled. Most non-gaming tribes are very poor.

Check? I don't get a check. I think it's only those who are still on the reservations.

It depends but I know one who gets about 10,000/month. It's barely a drop in the ocean when you think about what it is supposed to be for...There is no price on dignity.
