Specifically, a Dell desktop computer. The fan is constantly buzzing and whining. It's driving me nuts!

Try some steeled toed Doc Martins boots tied all the way up to your ankle or Steel toed Timberland boots, ankle version. Or you can buy more affordable boots with steeltoes made for men from Kmart. Not sure what the brand is but you will see that it is durable and strong. It may not be as comfortable. If the Kmart boots are used only for kicking the computer then I think its the best bet. Just make sure the computer is unplugged! You don't want to risk electricution!

steel toed boots...or clean out the dust from inside your computer. Dust buildup on the fans can cause the whining, same thing happened to me.

You have plenty of shoe advice, but have you tried cleaning the fan?
Maybe it needs to be replaced. If your fans quit working properly, your computer will go crazy with voltage spikes and/or overheating components. You do yourself a favor to maintain thes things or your computer will stop computing.
Then you can kick it! Don't wear any shoes though ... that way you can experience the agony of de'feet'. :-)

Can't go wrong with a double plated steel toed boot. May I suggest a running head start. Good luck. ;)

I'd go for a hiking boot, because it's purdy well shielded and also because you'll likely get some use out of the boot later (in both winter and for hiking...)
