A little over a week ago I was threatend with a miscarriage for spotting and the embryo having a slow heartbeat. I went back for a follow up u/s today and the heartbeat is up to 133. My gestational sac isn't a circle anymore like it was a week ago. It know is shaped sort of like a pickle. I am currently waiting for my doctor to call back with the results. Just wondering what the gestational sac should look like a 7 weeks.

Mine looked like a half moon at six weeks. I think it's no longer a circle b/c the baby is starting to develop and take shape. I think it sheds the sac when the placenta forms, so it should be getting smaller or less circle like in theory. The other thing you may have seen is just the yolk sac - at 7 weeks, you should have been able to distinguish between the yolk sac and the baby and the overall circle may have appeared distorted.

Hope that helps - sending happy thoughts your way. :)

This can happen due to impending miscarriage and slow heartbeat as you described. More than likely, your doctor will want to do another ultrasound in a couple of days or a week to see if there has been a change in shape. It is possible for it to become more like a sphere again.

Try not to worry until you hear from your doctor.

Mine was circular. But I wouldnt worry about it too much unless the doctor has bad news. Good luck
