No, the current administration has set us back more than a century. We are the most disrespected country in the world now instead of one of integrity and magnificence.

Well, your question implies we're already the most advanced and morally superior society in the western world. We're not... unless you're defining "morally superior" as "killing people just because, imprisoning a fourth of your population, and running around acting like we own everything when we don't own much at all." and as far as technological advancements... no, we're close to be at the top if, and only if, you go for an all around technology. If you do it by individual factors other countries are kicking our *** like it's going out of style.

People (American citizens and foreigners) always love to jump on the United States and criticize (this last administration did give the nay sayers a lot of ammo haha) but I think there is a soft spot in all of their hearts for the United States. I think everyone knows in the back of their mind that America did it right. The pros easily outweigh the cons (and there are plenty of cons)....But will it last? I don't know....I have a feeling that when China starts dictating its agenda around the world and the United States becomes what Canada is now in the world theater people will be talking about the 'glory days' of America. It will happen, just wait.

We haven't been the most advanced since the abolition of the gold standard and the New Deal. We are becoming like those socialist haven European societies smedrik was talking about. Someday if the American people can wake up and re-embrace liberty and personal responsibility then maybe we will be again.

Not so sure Pax. It seems Brazil has pushed itself so far ahead of the USA on alternative fuels, it's imbarrassing. Superiority is a state of mind. When you get down to the niddy griddty of things, we don't appear advanced is a perfect evaluation.

I'm not sure that I agree with you that we are more advanced and morally superior because America has shown a serious lack of judgement lately, eg. this war, soft attitude toward China. We are going broke trying to fund this useless war on terrorism when we could be doing so many good things with these funds.

They never have been and at this rate never will be.
You should try researching the policies of some European societies before making such a ludicrous statement.

Only if we on the right remain vigilant. We must not loose our resolve to protect her from without as well as within. Failure is not an option.

we may be one of the most technically advanced nations but morally we are not as long as places like Gitmo exist and we outsource torture. This great nation's moral reputation has suffered terribly at the hands of our current leadership.
