Yes i agree, when i was a girl my mum couldn`t keep me in,i`d always be out playing, skipping etc and the boys would always be playing footie and stuff.todays kids are just been left to sit there backsides down in front of tv and computers for hours on end and eating junk instead of being out and about getting exercise.

Yeah, you are right about that, but if the kids were eating properly, they'll won't become obese. The majority of kids just like to eat junk food all time. They should be more active, so they can work off that junk food. Instead of playing regular video games, they should play active video games. Like the eyetoy on the Playstation 2 or the Wii. I believe the eyetoy games give you better workout than the Wii games. Plus, Playstation 2 has a eyetoy game called Kinetic that gives you a workout program to start. It also has professional trainers that teach you different ways to workout. Finally, video games are start to become more active.

People In countries that you need to drive to a mall to buy a simple thing like bread, use the car like a pair of shoes, they have reasons but in the past the kids go walking to school, also they did more activities in the exterior, know they just praactice sports in Xbox and playstations or any video game or just check the internet all the time, i think this is the cause plus the inbalance of food, because the food that they like is plastic, they not eat good. as a result
not a balanced food + not practice any activity like sports, run or walk = obesity
this applies not just for kids also for adults.
I reccomend swimming. and running

It's obviously not the SOLE cause - the only way to get fat is by eating. If you played computer games all day every day, but didn't eat anything, you would still die of starvation.
I do agree it's a factor, but I think mostly it is down to the parents not having enough knowledge about nutrition and not being strong enough to be able to say "no" to their children.

I do agree that parents don't make kids go outside and play like we used to have to. Imagination is now lacking too, along with common sense.
also, fast food used to be a real family treat, not a daily meal planner. I believe the combo of these things are a cause.
the term Family Life has changed so much in 20 yrs. kids go to multiple homes weekly. parents are overstressed and out of control, and can't even begin to think about nutrution, exept a bowl of lettuce.

All computer games plus 24 hour a day cartoon channels plus poor nutrition (fast food). With a lack of respect for other as well as themselves this has contributed to this problem of childhood obesity..

The cause of childhood is unprotected sex,
and the cause for obesity is: because the govt has not banned any of the 100 most harmful & fattening foods, maybe they will get the message one day.

When I was a kid we ate home cooking. Fish and chips were our only fast food and a weekly treat. We rode bikes, played football, swung off trees on ropes, went swimming off the town quay and ran everywhere. I guess it boils down to junk food and exercise. Kids are still kids and have not mutated in my lifetime into monsters.

kids these days hardly go out and have fun, even in their own gardens. they all sit at home, do no excercise and eat constantly. and the food consumed isn't even healthy. TV and the lack of excercise is making all the children really unhealthy and fatter.
they need to get out more and less time indoors sitting watching telly.

there are various reasons for this,it can be in the genes if the pasents arelarge people.or it can be a lazy thyroid glant.this combined with the diet the person is used to can contribute to the problem.exercise also plays a major roll in the problem.
