I'm not completely sure of the question. But if you are asking why it was such a big deal that Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith had both their teams in the Super Bowl, it's because it is the first time that any African American head Coach has coached a team to the superbowl. And this year it was two. So, we'll have the first African American head coach to win a superbowl. That's why it was so important.

The media types like to play things up....and this one got played up due to the coaches being the first black coaches to reach the super bowl. However, there is really nothing significant in them meeting other than they are good friends who happen to coach football.

Who cares if they were both black, is the goal to have two asian or two hispanic head coaches next? Why does it matter what their skin color is, they were good enough to get both their teams to the Bowl that is all that matters.
