Nobody really knows what causes the market to rise or fall. There were many factors in the market yesterday, first the sell-off and correction in the Chinese markets, that closed in the early am EST. Also, the remarks of Greenspan, despite his no longer being the official mouthpiece of the treasury. Finally, the attempt on Cheney's life may have made investors wonder about the stability of our nation, and the defense therof as awhole, also, it may have led people to wonder what additional military spending would be required to beef up security in Afghanistan as well as accellorate the war in Iraq.
