I try to avoid it as much as possible. I have switched to decaf coffee so that way I don't have to give up my morning cup of coffee. Once in a while I'll have a Coke or a Pepsi, but I normally stick to 7-Up. I did the same thing with my first pregnancy.
Caffeine in moderation is safe for your baby. They recommend no more than 300 mg (about three 8-ounce cups of coffee) a day.

When i was pregnant i read that it was ok to drink up to 3 cups of coffee a day. I did not drink that much, but it will not hurt the baby if you have a few cups today. I would not do it everyday. I did drink one cup every morning and my little man came out just fine. Buy the book "What to Expect When Your Expecting" and it will answer questions like that, infact, all questions you have about your pregnancy on a week by week basis

I love my caffeine but when I was pregnant I drank almost no caffeine at all because I was so worried that it would hurt my baby somehow. I ony had 1 cup of cappuccino the whole time I was pregnant and I had a Diet Pepsi every once in a great while. I was overly worried about it. You can drink caffeine just dont drink it in excess.

I don't drink any caffeine at all.
3 cups of coffee once ina while won't harm your baby.
If you're craving coffee, you should try decaf. It has the same great taste, but no caffeine. I have a cup or 2 of that every day.

I am only 12 weeks pregnant....
I am/was addicted to diet pepsi ... i quit cold turkey when i found out i was pregnant. (i also used to get a venti latte from starbucks everyday) ... i cut all of it out ... until i saw my doctor. He told me that i can have 2-3 cans of soda/coffee etc per day. I try to keep it to 1 or none... and if I drink caffiene one day, not the next ....
but some days, you just need the caffiene lol - so I would say no more than 4 cups a day...
But if it's only every once in awhile, you'll be fine :)
hope that helps... I was sort of rambling lol - sorry :)

I've heard that caffeine contributes to lower birthweights... so they (doctors) tell you to cut back as much as possible. With my first daughter, I drank at least one soda a day because I was craving it so much... My daughter was born healthy, but on the smaller side. With this pregnancy (currently 18 weeks), I have cut back to maybe 1 soda every 3 or 4 days. If I were you, I'd limit myself to one cup of coffee every so often, or if you DESPERATELY need it! No use risking it...
Good luck... I know you'll make the best decision for you and your baby!

I don't drink anything caffeinated and try to really limit the caffeine in what i eat. I try to eat as little chocolate as possible and have switched to dark chocolate. I am following everything by the book because it's my first child and I am super scared to do anything. The drs office said a cup of coffee in the AM was fine. If you want the coffe but are scared about the caffeine - try mixing half regular with half decaf.

Try to keep it one cup of coffee or one soft drink a day. I know it's hard, but you can do it. I did, and I'm a total caffeine freak.
