CC - the house speaker still only has one vote and the odds of her ever filling in as President are extremely small.

The Constitution gives great power to the Speaker of the House, and that makes Nancy Pelosi the most powerful person in Congress. She is also third in line to the presidency if Bush and Cheney were both unable to serve as president. All Democrats and Republicans must listen to her. They don't really have a choice.

As Speaker of the House, she represents all members - it could be called Speaker FOR the House as well as Speaker of the House, if that helps explain it. All parties care what she says and does - she's two heartbeats away from the Presidency.

She is the Speaker of the House and she decides what comes forward for debate. Look at the first 100 hours, she was going to cram that down everyone's throat whether they wanted it or not.

Because she is the "Speaker." She helps appoint the "bozos" that run things. She just appointed another new person that has a questionable background. So much for the ethics she stressed at the beginning

Sorry, but as speaker she represents the entire house of reps. I don't like it any more than you do.
