I think about 20% of Londoners were born outside the UK, and about another 30% born in other parts of Britain. I would have been born in London, but my Ma was called up to Liverpool when expecting me in 1943 (she spoke Italian and German, so worked in the Censors Dept., reading POWs letters and blue pencilling senstitive info) That's how I came to be born in Liverpool. But as soon as she was out of bed she came back down to London - Islington - which was and is my home. All four of my grandparents arrived in London about 100 years ago (Ma's parents from Amsterdam, Pa's from East Yorkshire) so originally I'm descended from immigrants, just like every other Londoner.

I'd say about 20-25%. In addition to these, a further 10-15% were born in the UK - so the foreign 65% hold the balance of power now.

Try the National statistics website. It gives information on population in the UK, births, deaths, city populations and population movements. It is quite an extensive site, so you may have to hunt around for the information you require.
