The Gettysburg Address is probably the most awesome. When Lincoln finished delivering it, there was dead silence. People had to stop and think about it. He'd waited for four hours of oratory to deliver a speech less than ten minutes long, but no one remembers what was said before he spoke. The famous orator who spoke before him said Mr. Lincoln's short speech had put his to shame.

Almost everyone can quote the beginning from memory:

"Fourscore and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation... "

Absolutely Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. It's so moving!
Abraham Lincoln's "Gettysburg Address" is so well known because it's so good.
Patton's speech to the troops is great and motivational, but has naughty words.
Sojourner Truth's "Ain't I a Woman" is strong, but shorter if you need a memorized piece.

As a Republican minded independant, i replaced into 50/50 Obama/McCain going to the polls this morning. I merely wish I made the right decision balloting for Obama. As a immediately-up dude, I also replaced into moved to tears by this guy's speech, inspite of my lack of help for him. i don't know why, yet i replaced into. His speech replaced into re-assuring. I merely wish it wasn't a bunch of stylish garbage. i wish he's able to finish the job properly and steer us contained in the right route regardless of my reservations. And OP, at the same time as you criticize how McCain supporters acted, your condescension with "Obama supporters will shoot you down swifter than Dick Cheney on a searching holiday" isn't beloved or warranted. There aren't any extra Obama or McCain supporters, that is irrelevant. There are purely those who help the President of u . s . of u . s . and those who do not. I, for one, am a supporter of our President and trust u . s . as an finished desires to also help and embody our new President in those attempting situations if we ever wish to come back on the right music.
