D - Opposite Poles .... because...

If the field of the original magnet travels from the South pole to the north pole. This direction is an unchanging direction. if that magnet were larger then that direction would still hold to be true, so if we were to shorten its length then that direction will still hold to be true. If both magnets are identicle, which they have to be very close to identicle if we cut them both from one larger one, then the direction of travel has to be the same in both if neither was altered in any way after they were cut.
This means, in order for the two of them to have a field traveling from the south pole to the north pole then the point where the cut was made has to become the south pole on the upper half of the cut, and the noth pole on the magnet below the cut.
Therefore, the poles have to be opposite once the cut is made, and at the point of the cut.

D)
Fundamentally magnetic monopoles doesnt exist. So whenever we see a magnet it is a combination of both poles , how small it may be. We cant ever generate a monopole magnet.
Thats why when brocken into pieces the nearest ends hav opposite polarity.

Hi. You have your answer, but follow through a bit. What happens when you cut the PIECES in half, then those pieces, then those pieces, etc. until you get down to an iron atom. Just a thought experiment for you.
