All I want to do is join the air force as a military doctor. All I wanted to do was do all the cool stuff like the marines. Do fast roping and spy rigging of a helicopter, climb over wall, learn to snipe, learn military tactics such as "slicing the pie" and many more.

but now I hear, according to the Geneva Convention, medical personals can only carry a 9mm pistol and ONLY SHOOT when their life or their patient's life is in danger. A FUDGING 9MM, its like a water pistol!

This is so lame, I can't even get my first kill......wtf?

Medical Personnel can carry M16s or M4s, but Officers, which is what DR are carry a side arm instead of a rifle...it has always been like that...if you are a DR you know your job is to heal, not to kill...the Military pays you too much money, a lot more than the Infantry Captain that is on the front lines, for you to get killed...if you go in you will see the preferential treatment that DR and Nurses get...i.e...that do not get put out for failing PT tests or for being over weight...because the military needs them...the Geneva Conventions says that a Medical Unit can not have Offensive Weapons...i.e...240s, grenades, SAWs, and stuff like that, but in accordance a hospital is not suppose to be attacked either, but when was the last time a terrorist went by the Geneva Convention...hell half of them can't even read...but with your attitude I suggest you don not go into the military, the "Gunho" attitude will get you killed, way before you kill anyone...and trust me 80% of the DR and Nurses in the military can not even shoot a 9mm well at all...I was a training NCO for a Army Hospital and they way they shoot is scary...

If you want to heal, how can you justify killing? A physician wanting to kill is an insult to Hypocrotes(sp?). You want to end a human life then become a soldier, if you want to preserve life be a doctor, don't try to be both.
As far as the Geneva convention goes, it outlines the rules for how you treat prisoners after the battle is over, far from a worthless document no matter how GWB acts toward it.

Stop being a doctor. I imagine your bedside manner is abominable anyway.
