He leaves his socks in the kitchen because he took them off there. And dishes in the bathroom because apparently he carried them in there.

Find ways to make it worth his while to help you. If you nag it will come back to haunt you.

Does he really expect you to clean them up, or do you do it because it's important to you not to have them in the wrong place?

What kind of barter can you think of to encourage him to put things away? Give him something in exchange for helping keep the house clean.

ANd only work on one thing at a time. How can you make it easier for him to put his socks away? Can you put a laundry basket in the kitchen temporarily so it's easier for him to put them there than to carry them to the laundry room or bath room? What can you do to arrange the environment to make cleaning up after himself easier?

The easier it is the more likely it is to happen.

Most men seem to be like that after they are married. You can't change them either, unless "they" want your help to change. Forty years ago I thought I was going to change this guy I was in love with. We married, had two sons, have been married for thirtysix years and he's still the same person he was, with no regard for how others think about the way he looks, acts, nor how he takes care of of his things! He does have a heart of gold but even gold gets tarnished, discolored and damaged through the years!

Because he is a man and those are the two best rooms in the house for them, it's only natural they would get them confused. My husband did this and I quit picking up his grossness, i.e., his socks, underwear, etc. When his buddies came over and noticed, I told them who was to blame. Hasn't happened since.

He leaves them there because you have taught him that if he does, you WILL clean them up. Teach him the opposite or show him the door and tell him not to let it hit him too hard in the *ss on his way out.

She's right... you gotta stop picking up after them and sooner or later, usually WAY later, he'll get the picture.

Sounds like he is a little disoriented and if his feet smell and his nose runs then you know he is built upside down and backwards.
