You could go along with anyone's opinion, and in the end that's all it'd be. Or you could go along with the UN's "human development index." It measures "best" as a long healthy life, knowledgable people and a decent standard of living.

The "best country" ranking last year put Canada in sixth place and the U.S. down in eighth. Really, the best country in the world is Norway, with Iceland, Australia, Ireland and Sweden close behind.

Another definition is the "human poverty index," which says "best" means the country with the least poverty and highest standard of living. On that index the top two are Sweden and Norway again. Canada is down to eighth and the U.S. a pathetic eighteenth.

So the U.S. and Canada are okay to live in, as long as we don't care too much about health, education or poor people.

Unites States. A country that you know you have rights and freedom. I country that will make a man out of you. A country where a poor Mexican crossing the border today with $5 in his pocket and end up with $1000 by the end of the month. A country that without it's existence we will all be speaking Nazi German, or Russian or Chinese, or basically wiped out. A country that is basically keeping you in Canada, Europe, and Asia alive by being the biggest consumer of your products. A country that is there first when disaster hits a country. There are many more reason why the United States is the best, but many will disagree.

Oh by the way, I am Canadian.

CANADA all the way. Oh, we have our problems there is no doubt about that. We have 4 great seasons, the longest outside natural skating rink in the world {the Rideau Canal}, you can take one highway {Trans Canada} and literally dive from coast to coast and make a stop in every province. We have great food, we have 2 languages {can be a sore point}, there are many thing to offer here, Nature here is beautiful, more wild life that humans here. This is a great country we have, like I said I recognize that we have our problem, has do ALL other counties

...And why would you ask such a thing...? Where is it you live yourself?...Listen what to someone may seem like the best place on earth may not be to another....So I would limit myself to say that there is not a number 1 place on earth...there are many countries that offer a varied natural ambiance...others offer an envious high tech architecture....but I do think that all countries have something that makes them unique ana beautiful.-

Definetly the US. For one thing. Apart being a big nation with good material comforts, it is a tolerant society accepting all race, religions. I feel proud to be an American who is given his rights, respected for what I am. When I look at Europe where the issue of Theo Van gogh and Dutch cartoons I realized how lucky iam to be in the US. We never heard of these kinds of things in the US. There is freedom of expression but within a limit. There is respect for the sentiments of all religions and cultures. America is definetly the place to be.

United States, only if you have a lot of money. Because you can party, drive where ever u like, meet and have sex with lot of beautiful women, good life style, good opportunities when you are rich.
It is nice if you live in California, Chicago, Dallas, Florida, New Jersey, New York etc. Not Nebraska,Idaho, Iowa, Arkansas, Mississippi. I miss living in the United States.
