We're about to move into a new apt that does not have a dishwasher, since I'm incapable of washing dishes on my own I need a portable one. Where do they hook up to? Are they even worth buying?

The water source is your tap, by hose. The electrical source is a plug..

They are worth it if you hate washing dishes by hand.

Portable dishwashers are good to very good at washing dishes and may prove to be an excellent alternative to hand washing in your case.

They basically function the same as under cabinet models, except that they can be disconnected and moved on their wheels to a storage location.

Basically, you attach an adapter to your kitchen faucet and connect the hoses (two) to it by means of a quick disconnect. The adapter should come with the dishwasher. One of the hoses is to get water to the appliance and the other hose is use to discharge the dirty water from it. So you can see that it is important that the sink be kept clear while the dishwasher is running. Oh and you should have an elect rial outlet near your kitchen sink or use an extension cord. The outlet used should be of the CGFI (ground fault interrupter) type to avoid the possibility of shock.

My sister had one of these & found that it didn't do a real good job getting things clean; you need to practically rinse them clean before putting them in the dishwasher. However, if you really can't manage hand-washing them, I guess this would be your only option for now.

Depending on the one you get. Usually they hook up to your sink and then you can unhook it once the dishes are done and move it into a corner.

My friend has one, she loves it....It water hose just plugs onto the spout in your kitchen sink, and the dirt water hose just drains out into your kitchen sink

Well, as long as you pay her well, she'll wash the dishes for you.
