Parents both Irish from Mayo & Sligo. I was born in London.
When asked for ethnicity at work I gave them White Irish.
Will be wearing the Green on the day & proudly wearing my shamrock that my sister always sends me.
Have found some great flashing shamrock earings & shamrock sunglasses.
Of the the pub for the Craic.Lots of the black stuff.
La Fheile Padraig Shona dhuit. Happy St Patricks Day

I am about a quarter Irish on one Gram's side. no I do not go about bragging it up. Those who have none or little, I think it odd or plain insulting to go about playing Irish if not.
Like one silly old thing I know who has about 1/8 irish in her, and goes about playing it up on St Patrick's day. That and her dutch husband.
Fine to have a good time, but I can't understand getting extreme and obnoxious about it.

I claim to be part Irish every day. My father's family came from Ireland in the early 1900's.
I saw a cute St. Pat's Day button this morning.
It said, "Drink Until She's Irish"

I am half Irish (my Dad was full blooded) - and I claim it everyday. My last name used to have an O in front of it - but apparently they dropped it when they came through Ellis Island. The Irish weren't loved much in this country back then.

Aside from the obligatory "kiss me I'm Irish" buttons and keychains, I don't really try to pass as Irish. But I'm sure I have some of that heritage along with the variety pack that my ancestors contributed.

I do not claim to be Irish at all, not even on St. Patricks Day, I am still Norweigen and proud of it.
