I had my nails done for my wedding but I play the guitar so I had to soak them off shortly after the honeymoon. Go to your local beauty supply store (like Sally's beauty) and ask the rep. who works there what the best soak they have for the fake nails are. I paid about $4.00 for the jar. You will also need a nail file and some time (for some reason it will take you longer to do it yourself than to have the pros do it for you). Soak your nails in the asitione for 20-30 seconds, take a paper towel and wipe off the gummy stuff on top then lightly file your nail. Repeat this process until the fake nails are completely off. **Note: 1. Make sure NOT to file your real nail. 2. Remember that your nails are going to be very brittle afterwards and may break very short. You should file your nails very short after removing the fake ones, then give yourself a manicure using a base, color, then top coat. To help keep them stronger make sure to use a coat of clear nail polish (top coat) once daily to keep them from chipping. You will need to do the manicures regularly until your nails grow out (it really hurts when you let it go for a while and you break one). I took mine off in December and they are almost grown out now. Its not hard to do at all, just time consuming the first time.

I just had this problem a while ago and here is what I did, now it won't look pretty like the nail salon does but it will work. Here goes I went to Wal-Mart and bought some nail remover (make sure it contains acetone or buy for removing acrylic nails) and sat there and soaked my hands in it and slowly removed what I could. Most of it came off just not all the chemical stuff they use to build it up. Then I took a metal nail file and I would scrap the goo off until it was smooth. After that I used a buffer and buffed them until they were smooth, and put some clear Polish on them. Be careful because the nails are really weak so don't keep them long just go on and clip them off. I have been taking a daily multivitamin geared to women and drinking a lot of water and my nails have grown so much faster. Any way Good Luck!!!!!

Here's what you don't do... pick them off very damaging to your nails.
Go to a beauty supply store and make sure you buy pure acetone. You will not get that in regular polish remover at the drug store.
pure into two glass dishes (little Pyrex works good) and depending on what kind of fake you have on it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.
If you have on light cured gels nothing but filing them off will work.
Good luck

Bite the bullet and go to a pro. It will be quicker and probably do less damage to your nails. I've done it both ways, and trust me - it is just simpler to pay the $16 and be done with it. You can soak til the cows come home, but then you'll just have to soak some more. Good luck.

you can use pure acetone remover in a glass or metal container...or you can use nail tip and glue remover which can be purchased at walmart for about 2.00...both can be really strong to inhale so place a towel over hands to avoid vapors while soaking...as they start to soften you can gently push the excess off with an orangewood stick...also you can double the bowlsand fill the bottom one with warm water and the top with remover and it speeds the process.

soak them in acetone. Warm the acetone by holding the bottle close to your body for a while first. NEVER warm acetone on a stove or hot plate. After several minutes of soaking they will soften enough for you to roll the acrylic off.
