First, they wanted to tell us what we can take for medication, next it was what & when we can drink and now it's what we can eat. Where will we draw the line? I think it's time for a rebellion.

I agree with you totally. What happened to freedom to choose? Or the pursuit of happiness? We need less government and more leadership. I, too, am disgusted with the government sticking their noses into my private life. I am 55 and capable of making sane and reasonable decisions.
The only legal way to rebel is with your vote. This country, for all its freedoms, has a deplorable voter turn-out every time. We must take more responsibility and study the platforms of the candidates. Then VOTE.

No it is no wonder. They aren't getting through simply by pushing 'health' so now they are forcing people to eat a certain way. They have already started in my school, and policies they have at school have an interesting way of surviving to the workplace. I won't be surprised when they ban trans fats altogether and then it is on to normal fats. If it was up to the government we would all be eating vitamin pumped paste. yah paste! *shouts for joy*

If there aren't laws now, if we ever get nationalized health care, this WILL occur.

Once the public monies are on the line for your health care, then people and the government will make rules forcing you to be healthy, as they see it. We've seen smoking bans, and trans-fat bans and bans of candy & coke from schools, and government panels on obesity.

How soon until you start getting fined for being overweight or out of shape? How soon until you have your children removed because they're too fat, or because you gave them too much Kool-Aid and cookies?

Does anybody doubt that laws like this will eventually be passed?

Oh Brave New World!

I don't know about rebellion...or revolution...but I agree, government is OVEREXTENDING their power. Generally, this kind of crap is from State and Local governments. Seat belt laws, no-smoking laws, can't spank your child laws, no trans-fat laws etc...all state and city doings. And well outside the scope of what government should be concerning themselves with.

The regulate all this crap, then have to have more money to enforce their regulations...then have to regulate more, to enforce the other regulations...then need more money to enforce those...

CC, I guess you've never heard of the FDA. Also, many municipalities regulate the hours of alcohol sales.

FascFiter, I can guarantee you that if you would eliminate the government from the healthcare industry. That is the root of the problem. Because of it, we are slowly eroding liberty.

Did your McDonald's stock take a hit recently?

TransFats ARE bad for you. So are MSG (includes anything "autolyzed") and hydrogenated oils.

My favorite is the 'foie gras'. There's no reason for that one, other than to appease PETA.

Don't forget they also dictate what we can watch and hear over the radio.
I agree it's about time to throw these idiots out and put people in who obey the bill of rights.

I don't recall any legislation that tells what what we can drink, what we have to take and what we eat. Show me a link that shows what legislation is being passed.

Desoto...the FDA is there to protect us from harmful substances. Do you really want to take a med that has not been tested appropriately and approved for its safety? Just because it's regulated does NOT mean that we don't have tons and tons of choices on meds, beverages and food. If we didn't have the FDA, people would be suing left and right for bad substances. So, they aren't telling us what to take or eat...they are telling us what is safe. There are plenty of meds out there that don't have FDA approval...look at all those diet pills.

I'll tell you what. You can eat all the garbage you want, if you can guarantee the health costs from your choices are not passed on to the rest of us. Can you do that??
