Although I don't expect anything from someone, if they promise me something or say they are going to get me a christmas or birthday present and then they don't, well I can't help but be a little let down. I also hate it when I meet a guy who is always offering to help and saying, "if you need anything, call me" and then they never seem to be able to help. It's more like "oh, i'm sorry you have to walk home in the dark, I'd wish I could help, but, but, but....
I don't make a lot of promises my self but when I do , I make sure I keep them but it seems like alot of people don't. It just seems like these people who are offering help are always out of town or busy when you call on them.

Never be dependent on other people, only ask if it is a major emergency. Do they say that to be polite just to get away from you knowing that you have a track record of doing it?

I am not sure but htere is a quote I found online that was very helpful to me:

Don't spend major time with minor people.
If there are people in your life that continually disappoint you, break promises, stomp on your
dreams, too judgmental, have different values and don't have your back
during difficult times...that is not a friend.

this is so true because I had a friend that was like this then I realized that he wasn't really a good friend. so we don't even talk anymore at school.

i know exactly what you are going through! you just have to learn that you are in this world by yourself, there will always be people that promise things. "A promise is a comfort to a fool". as long as you remember that you will be fine.one day you wil meet that person that will be willing and able to do anything for you and it would've been well worth the wait. keep your head up hi sweetie !

They're just typical people. Don't get too discouraged about it.

Just use them as an example of what you don't want to be. Always follow through on your word, and your benevolence will return ten-fold.
