It depends on what is responsible for the color in the drink. Sometimes our urine *does* turn the color of what we drink, people that have had certain medical procedures are aware of this. Orange and blue are the two common ones.
If it is just a food additive type of dye it either gets broken down through digestion, or diluted to the point that you can't discern the color anymore.

Urine filters the blood, which means that anything that doesn't make it into the blood won't make it into the urine.
The small intestine is responsible for taking nutrients, including proteins, from your food. The lining of the intestine is very select, and won't take up just anything to send into the blood. "Junk" like dyes stay in the intestine, pass to the large intestine (AKA colon) and exit in feces.
In the blood, proteins are broken down and the individual amino acids further broken down, to be used in the cell apparatus for enzymes, hormones, and all things protein in nature. Ingested amino acids and proteins are not saved in the body except as they can be converted and stored as fat. Therefore, excess protein has to be discarded and this is done by the kidneys. By the time excess protein reaches the kidneys, it has been converted to ammonia, (NH3). This is toxic to the body and must be discarded immediately. The color of urine is caused by its N content (think NOx, AKA smog, which is brown). The more dilute your urine (you should always be hydrated enough that is only a very pale yellow) the paler it is. As an earlier poster said, if it is brown (way way too concentrated) or red (blood in the urine, a possible sign of internal injury) then it's a good idea to consult your doctor.

Gee, I don't know. Why is that? I drink mostly water.
Personally, I've noticed that my urine chan
ges color only when I eat fresh vegetables that are orange like acorn squash, and carrots. And then it just gets a brighter yellow color----no, I am not dehydrated I'm too much of a health nut to let that happen.

I think the colors get filtered out by digestion and go into your large intestine along with whatever food you've eaten that day. Vitamins, like B Complex will change the color a bit.

It really shouldn't. Urine can be light and dark yellow based on it's concentration of urine/water ratio. If your urine is any other color and it's not a contra indication of a medication, you should see a doctor. ESPECIALLY if it's red or brown.

Because your urine is water, plus your body's waste products. Most of the stuff in a drink is metabolized by your body. So most of the stuff in there is not going out in your urine in its original form, if at all. Some of it will be used by your body or excreted in your feces.

This because, the mixture of chemicals that makeup a drink, gives the liquid a color.
however, when ingested, the body will process it(digest).
water in it is absorbed, the different types of ions are also absorbed.
the rest of the components, such as caffeine, stabilizers, or acids, are chemicals and are broken down, so in the end, we are left with chemicals, that are usually colorless.
urine is mixture of water, urea, and ions. so its color is not affected by the drinks color.

because all the components like sugar and chemicals and additives get processed by your body and turned into urine and feces. We are not like dolls that wet their pants after given liquid - it does not go directly through from mouth to urethra, many things happen in between.
