Can I just skip the sugar pills and start a new pack or do I need to start on the third week of the new pack for it to be effective?

You can skip the last group of "placebo" pills and go right into a new pack. However, this may not stop your period completely. You may still spot a little, but it is perfectly safe to do from time to time.

I would call your obgyn and ask him/her. That could mess up your hormones! They have a birth control called seasonale. You take it 3 months straight, you only get your period every 3 months! I've been on this pill for @ 2 years now. I take it because I have severe back problems with nerve pain in my legs. When I get my period it aggravates my back! Good Luck!

Yes I had to do this before my honeymoon, but I tried it a couple of months before then to make sure it would work.
I didn't spot or have any problems.

Yeah I actually take the same thing and that's what my doctor recommended me to do... it may take one or two months before it actually stops, but it will eventually work. Good luck.
