The liberals have forgotten the words of those that they have canonized as saints. They have forgotten the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who said "I have a dream that one day this great nation will rise up and realize the true meaning of its creed...that all men are created equal." Continually bashing white males as the root of all evil in this country and supporting Affirmative Action is antithetical to King's teachings of EQUALITY. They have also forgotten the words spoken by their great hero John Fitzgerald Kennedy "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country." But let's be clear here: ANYONE, regardless of their race, color, creed or gender, who is caught up in the mess of perpetual welfare is a victim of liberal con-artistry. The liberals have set up a system whereby these people get barely enough to live on and are penalized if they go out and find work (so the end result is it's better to sit at home and collect welfare than go to work and not be any better off), and anytime conservatives talk about welfare reform they go whining to their welfare-recipient constituents saying "The Republicans want to take your welfare away!" No, we want to help you find a job that pays better than minimum wage so you can support yourself and your family and therefore won't NEED welfare anymore. Liberals fight that tooth and nail because they know they'll lose their voter base.
Hypocrisy, thy name is Democrat...

I think you'll find that many "liberals" see Affirmative Action as an outdated process ... and no, the point isn't to get them hooked and keep them enslaved... and you have to remember.. liberal is based against the view of the time.. and yes, MLK Jr. was very Liberal for his time. Maybe the social programs of the democrats aren't perfect.. but what is in this world.. and I would rather try and do something.. as opposed to doing nothing. At least we are doing some good. If a better system comes along, I will gladly support it.. but until then I will support what I believe is the best we have (not the best we can do)

CC,you're right,MLK was not marching to stop slavery. Slavery had ended a long time before. He was marching for equal rights. Do you kids today read at all? Many Republicans and Dems up North were for civil rights. Al Gore's father voted against it ,and of course as we all know Sen Byrd too.

the simple fact is... freeing the slaves and marching for equal rights was just as liberal of an idea at the time as gay marriage is now...
social change in the name of equality is a basic staple of liberal ideas... it doesn't matter if you have an R or a D beside your name... if it's a liberal idea, it's a liberal idea...
now you can talk about this idea of "welfare slavery" all you want... but the simple fact is... conservatives wanted to keep slavery and weren't for equal rights.... they wanted to conserve the ideas of the past...
and welfare slavery is a long ways from actual slavery... no matter how you cut it...

One of the definitions of liberal is wanting to change things and progress in a society. So simply being for civil rights, in a time where there weren't any, is a liberal idea.

You know Joe that as long as you keep this pleasingly simple, it all sounds good.
There are people out there who disagree and detest the direction that this country has taken in the last 6 years, and I know this will surprise you, they are not all "Liberal Democrats"
Listening to Chuck Hagel the other day, it didn't sound like he was happy with things... is he a liberal? (obviously a republican so you can't argue that.)

MLK probable became a Liberal and a Democrat. He became in desire of the folk extra desirable than the rich Industrialists. it fairly is the latter it fairly is extra probably to wish human beings addicted to handouts. you're able to quote your references once you're making such statements. it seems which you have been listening to conservative hate radio returned. Hermann Goering, Hitler’s Propaganda Minister mentioned; “Voice or no voice, the folk can consistently be dropped on the bidding of the leaders. it fairly is straightforward. All you're able to do is is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for loss of patriotism, and exposing the country to larger threat”.

Conservatives did NOT work for Civil Rights. By definition, a Conservative opposes change. And getting rid of Jim Crow in the South was a BIG change!

boy, the Kool Aid over at Michael Savage's house is good and strong today, boyo!
The modern day GOP is a mere ghost of the Party of Lincoln. Abe rolls in his grave on a daily basis anymore. Dick Cheney calls Nelson Mandela a "terrorist" on the floor of the United States senate, and Strom Thurmond is a Republican icon, even though he ran for PRESIDENT as a SEGREGATION candidate.
your question is race baiting, at best, but, seeing as to how the right is populated by blacks like Condi Rice and Alan Keyes, I guess its all you got, eh?

The white Republicans that live in the trailer park down the road from my house would disagree with that statement. JFK was instrumental, along with the help of Dr. King, in developing the Civil Rights Act, giving blacks the same rights as whites in America.
