Don't use the used nipples. Some people wash them in their dishwasher and the plastic becomes unstable due to contact with the chlorine used in dishwasher machines and can cause cancer.
Buy new nipples and always handwash them this way:
Take a drop of dishwashing soap and lather it up between your forefingers and then apply to the nipple as you wash. Never apply the soap directly to the nipple because it will be hard to get every bit of the soap off the nipple and any remaining saop will damage the baby's liver.
So:
1) new nipples
2) never wash the nipples in the dishwasher
3) never apply dish soap directly on the nipple, instead apply to your fingers, lather it up then apply the lather to the nipple.

It depends. My Sister in law tried several different bottles with her son before settling on one he liked, then gave me the ones he didn't like. She never tried one more than three times, so they were almost new (in fact, only one of the nipples had even been tried), so I just sterilized them and used them. I probably would not have done this, however, if my nephew had ever had thrush or any other infectious condition--I would just have bought new nipples.

If your situation is similar, so that the nipples were never actually used, then I would go ahead and use them. However, if the nipples were used for any length of time, or are just older and the rubber may be breaking down, I would throw them out and buy new ones.

Good luck and congratz on your baby!

never use used nipples. The nipples get chewed on by teething babys and may cause it to break. Reboiling them can cause them to be less strong and break. Old nipples can become brittle also. As for the bottles you could use if you clean them right everytime. I bought those playtex nurser bottles that you put the drop in liners so that i know my baby is getting a fresh bottle everytime. Reason:Kitchen sponges are the No. 1 source of germs in the whole house. Why? The moist, micro-crevices that make a sponge such an effective cleaning device also make it a cozy home for germs and more difficult to disinfect. Wiping your counters or dishes with a dirty sponge will only transfer the bacteria from one item to another. http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/features/germs-in-kitchen

its ok to use the bottle as long as they don't have cracks in them of course. Never use nipples from someone else. Always replace the nipples.

If the bottles don't have any cracks in them, then use them, but I would never use someone else nipples. Not just for hygienic reasons, but just in case they are worn and breaking apart.

I had the bottles which I use for my daughter, but I bought brand new nipples.

i used the bottles but i pitched the nipples and bought new. bottles are extremely expensive especially if you go with one that is a self venting bottle like the Advent. three 8oz Advent bottles are about 16 dollars at giant eagle.

I went and bought the nipples. I was given the playtex ventaire and I think since they were used they no longer worked properly but being a first time mom it took me a while to figure that out and ended up buying Dr Browns at 10 weeks old and my baby loved them! Wished I would of bought them sooner but you live and learn. Just my exprience......
