Everyone starts at a different age. Some girls start as early as ten and others don't start until they are sixteen. So, yes, this is normal. If you haven't started in a couple of years, and are still worried talk to your mom and have her take you to the doctor to see why you haven't started.

Yes, you are not going to self destruct. I didn't get mine until I was 14. I was as what you would call ' a late bloomer'. If you don't get it in the next couple years (2-3) go to your doctor.
If you are an athlete, your BMI might be low (doubt full, Olympic athletes sometimes find that they 'lose' their period because as a women you need about 17% BMI for your body to feel 'safe' having your period and they sometimes get below that in season) basically because if you didn't have enough fat to support your bodily functions - yes you need fat to support your bodily functions - you wouldn't be able to carry a baby.
And that is what getting you period is for. Your body setting up the a baby, when none comes - your body gets rid of all the prep work - thus your period.

Yes this is normal. Some girls don't get their period until they are 16 or even older. If you don't get it by the time you are 16 then it is recommended you see a doc just to be sure everything is ok.

YES you're okay.... as long as you start before you're 16.... girls mature at different ages... don't be in such as hurry....having your period is not all it's cracked up to be...once you do get it there'll be many days you wished otherwise...it's a necessary inconvenience most of the time...

This is not uncommon. You could just be a late bloomer. I have friends that it was almost 18 before having their first period.

Ask you mom how old she was when she started, studies show that typically girls get their period a year earlier than their mom.
