I just saw a response that said "women now have worth beyond fawning over a man and having children".

Am I to suppose that MEN should have worth beyond "fawning over a wife and raising children"

What is more worthy then being nice to somebody and creating a life and caring for it?

It's one thing to have a choice between family and career but why must that choice DEMEAN women that are NICE to MEN and love and spend time and care for there families.

It's a free country, go get a career and be the CEO and spend your afternoons in the board-room instead being a mommy at the park. Spend your life by yourself so you won't have to worry about having to FAWN over a man.

Some of us choose to be giving and caring and raise families. That's our choice and don't be rude to us. Our children will be running the world soon not yours.

This is one reason why men are so confused these days. You never know what to do...if you open the door for some women they scowl at you like you've offended them or something. I think it's sad that some women feel that their family being together and happy isn't considered a success. I think the most important job there is for both men and women is to provide a safe, secure, loving environment for their children. Maybe I'm old fashioned but to me raising children to be good, solid, kind people is a very important job. Keeping a relationship together and being happy in your home I also consider to be a success.

I understand your reaction to those words. They could have been said better. There was a time when there were few choices for women and it was expected that they would marry and become mothers. Some women who did not go this route for whatever reason were denigrated to a degree. Now we do have choices. Not every woman should become a mother, just as not every man should become a father. Being a mother is the absolute most important contribution a woman can make to society because in her hands is the future. There is no substitute for a good start in life and it sets the tone for the entire rest of a person's existence. If we want happy, productive, honest, kind, intelligent adults who are capable of making good decisions and contributing to the world, it starts with good health, good nutrition, safety, and good parenting in the very beginning.
If you are a good parent, I admire you very much. Not everyone is qualified to be a parent. Men and women who are not qualified should have options like a career to devote their lives to. The world and everyone in it will be better off if people with no parenting skills would stay childless.

You make a huge jump from women having additional worth over and above family to a put down of men. Men weren't mentioned at all. We have always paid lip service to the worth of the stay at home wife and mother, no tax breaks to encourage it mind you, but a nice card on Mothers day. For generations women have been put in their place on the mommy track, and that's a race with an end before you even get half way through, men have never had that, and for a man, a family makes him a better employee not someone who may have to cancel a meeting because of a snow day.
That's whats meant by women having worth beyond family. Being worthy is a whole other concept which includes sacrifice, giving without expecting payback, and generosity of spirit. We all want to raise healthy kids, to imply otherwise is just as rude as the imaginary slur you detected in your question.

There was some feminist (I dont recall her name) anyway she was on some debate panel on PBS, and she recommended that women abstain from having children in order to keep up in the career field and not lose out to men. That is extreme! There were looks of disgust on some other female panelists faces, who consider being a mother, a wonderful thing. I will also note that these ladies were all professional and didnt feel like they were lacking in their career as a result of being a mother. All I can say is, most level headed women do not operate the way some of these extremists do, and its time we give credit where credit is due, and stop trying to hold down women who exercise their freedom of choice by choosing to become good mothers and wives. After all isnt the choice, what feminists claim to be fighting for? They should not be hypocritical in their statements.

Every one is entitled to their own opinion but really, hasnt society been over this enough? Women can choose to be whatever they want to be and at the risk of over using the term 'labels' i really dont believe in lables, if a woman chooses to work have a family or be a bum its their choice, its their life, they have to live it, just like a man does, doesnt a man choose what he wants to do with his life 2? It doesnt matter what any other sexist person says, the important thing is this, you no who you are and your happy with your choices, when we leave this world we all end up the same anyway, we all came into this world the same so every one should just get on and live their own lives instead of constantly re emphasising this ridiculous ongoing debate between genders. Women have the right to choose how to live their lives now, the battle has been fought and the war is won in the majority of countries these days so dont let anyone drag you down, man or woman because its pointless. You seem happy in you choices so just be happy with yourself and no one can touch you.

Is it demeaning to say that "women have worth beyond fawning over a man and having children"? Uhhh...no.
I'm sure the intent there was not to imply that women who choose to dedicate themselves to their families full time are not realizing their full worth. There's nothing wrong in doing that, in fact I think it's one of the most noble things a woman OR a man can do. But, it's not for every woman. Some women want something different, and before a few decades ago, women had no CHOICE but to do that, a woman's worth was based solely on her role as mother and homemaker. Women weren't recognized as "worthy" of anything else. Again, I think a stay-at-home mom is one of the most worthwhile things you can do, but your worth is no longer based solely on that.
I don't think that it was meant to demean SAHM, but to suggest that women have worth in every aspect of society, which wasn't always the case.

No, it isn't demeaning. The difference now is we have the choice. If we want to stay at home, we can. If we want to have a career, we can. But the important thing is we are not forced into a role by society, it is our decision.

And neither choice is better than the other. It is what we want to do with our lives. I have a great career and I am the mother of two. I am happy and fulfilled. What could be better?

Women can be CEO's and still have families. I would rather love 1 man unconditionally and have a career that I love than be "fawning" over MEN. Men indicates more than one. I would rather stick to one man thank you very much. I would also love to raise a family women can have careers and still raise a family or are you to sexist to see that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If a woman wants to stay at home and be a stay at home mother and feels fulfilled by that then I say that that is alright great even. But if a woman wants to work to have a sense of fulfillment then they should be allowed to do it. Especially if the children are already in school. What is a woman to do all day when her kids are in school? Just because a woman works does not mean that her kids will be in daycare or with a nanny. Many women work only when their kids are at school or they have their kids in meaningful, helpful even after school programs. Some after school programs teach kids how to play musical instruments and things like that and I feel like they can be very beneficial to the kids.

I agree including your perception. i'm uncertain if it fairly is a hormonal difficulty, basically study on. i'm a Nurse and for the main area, Nurse's are many times lady. think of what happens as quickly as all of us look PMS ing on a similar time ?? no longer an excuse for yet another lady to demean yet another yet, it happens. women persons tend to hold grudges perpetually, yet, with men, they confront the priority and all is forgiven ( many times) yet, it fairly isn't unavoidably authentic of ladies. Why ?? Who fairly knows!! it would desire to be jealousy, the could experience that they have degraded yet another to make themselves experience or seem extra acceptable. Then, of path, there is the environmental ingredient. back, no longer an excuse, yet, a baby is raised with particular ideals/components and that they improve up with a view it incredibly is a discovered habit or, reaction. The extra look after and beneficial that a girl is, there is way less possibility of this style of habit. I incredibly have many times puzzled comparable to your self. yet, i do no longer think of it fairly is a query which could have basically one answer. ok, so, now i'm arranged for various thumbs down. it fairly is my opinion, observations, and private adventure/understanding.

I think the point was that women now have the choice to do something else with their lives, where before they were denied education, jobs, and independence.

It is still very admirable to take care of other people, whether male or female. But now women are not punished for wanting something else and not being the nurturing type.
