Water, or just moisture, on the outside of the wiring in the attic, or anywhere for that matter, won't adversely affect anything. If, however, the water gets deep enough, or is dripping directly on top of, junction boxes where the wires are connected to other circuits inside, that could be dangerous. The mold thing would be of more concern than the electrical problem possibilities for me. And if there's adequate ventilation for the attic, then there may not be mold growing anyway. Your landlord, should, however, be concerned about ceiling damage if the leakage is significant.

If the wire is fairly new, it will have THHN insulation on it. That stuff is gasoline and oil resistant, and moisture resistant . Water is not going to hurt it. It can however cause problems in junction boxes, etc. Your wet insulation and ceilings are a much more serious concern.

Do not wait on this problem as it will only get much ,much worse.First water and electricity do not mix,Unless the proper materials are used.Mold and lungs also do not mix. So I would shut of the power to the wet areas,Get the leak repaired,Start getting the moisture out of the area.rent the biggest de-humidifiers you can find,-several of them and put them on the highest setting for a few days.Or call a professional disaster clean up company.Good luck

ABSOLUTELY YES !!! AND THAT WILL JUST BE THE BEGINNING OF YOUR TROUBLES. Once water gets inside, it can ruin wood, insulation, plaster, drywall, and cause the
corrosion of the metal fasteners that hold everything together. of course none of that will matter if the water shorts out the electric.the fire will be the only concern.

Yes and yes. Mold can be deadly, and wet wires will short-circuit or otherwise prove dangerous. Your landlord needs to fix it NOW.

Ummm..Sure can! And if he's not willing to fix it contact your local landlord & tenant act and/or the fire dept, they will make him do it. Think it's time to replace the roof too.
