I am studying GLBT lifestyles, and in my multicultural class, we have to give generalized information for our choice topic.
What are some of the standard stereotypes of gay men?
If you are GLBT, at what age did you come out to your parents?
What is the average duration of your relationships?
Do you have any desires to raise children (adopted or your own)?

Common (wrong) stereotypes:
-All gay men are girly and dress up in women's clothes (I enjoy being a man and acting like one).
- Most gay men are pedophiles (Stats show that most pedophiles are actually straight men with issues).
- Gay men think of sex all the time, and look at every other man as sex object (Wrong, of course. Yes I do "lust" sometimes, but I do need love and to be loved).
- Gay men are always depressed (Only those surrounded by homophobes can be).
- Gay men have a higher chance to catch AIDS. (Untrue, any two people not using protection can catch AIDS, if there was fluid exchange).
-I came out to them last year, I was 19, and they didn't accept me..
-I tend to have long-term ones could be years in some cases. I only had a few relationships, with an average of 1.5 years.
- I'm not sure about that. Maybe i will, but I'm not sure, it's too early to think of it right now.

I think one of the biggest stereotype is the thought that gay men are all great dressers, good decorators, etc... as shown in Queer Eye for the Strait Guy. To get a good idea of stereotypes just look at how Hollywood portrays the gay man.
I came out as a bisexual to my family when I was 23. I told them two months after I came to the realization myself.
I would love to raise children some day. I work with kids now and look forward to the day I have one of my own.
I hope this helps for your class.

This isn't exactly a stereotype of gay men, but kinda is: All transwomen are gay men. (I'm trans and mostly les.)
I came out at 12.
I haven't really been in relationships yet.
Yes, I want to raise kids some day. It really sucks that I don't have the cash to have sperm preserved so that one day I could have kids with a woman. And get married. And have that house in the country...
