I see many girls wearing dark nail polish these days. What's with that? And they're not emo, they're the most valley girl type ever! Is there some sort of trend going on? If there is, does anyone know where it came from?

I'm just so out of it I don't notice these things much anymore.

i haven't personally worn dark nail polish but i believe the trend came with the whole "Hilary Duff" look. She used to be "valley girl" and wear light nail polish, but when she went gothic looking, people kept her old look of valley mixed with her new one, emo. so it's like valley emo. lol!! i don't understand it either, but, hey, everyone has their own opinions!

Err... it's just nail polish, but I have noticed the trend.

A good reason for this is probably the whole "emo trend" thing that is going on. People are starting to think it's cool to be emo so they're trying to make themselves a little more like them. It could also be because... well, it looks good and it's more unique than a basic pink polish.

This is actually a very classy look because there are so many shades of dark polishes out there right now. It's very trendy, but I like it because light polishes have been the thing for years. Dark colors make a statement and have that added pop on your fingers. I love it.

The thing to remember with this look is keep your nails short if you're going dark.

A beautiful color is OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark:

It looks very purple in the picture, but goes on very dark with plum undertones and is very nice. It's all I've been wearing lately, to be honest.

I'm really looking forward to trying the Lincoln Park At Midnight shade also. It looks more like a going out color.

Yes, actually the colors for this winter were the dark, classy colors. Like the wines, veltvet, mauves. Now that we are getting into spring, the makeup colors are still pretty dark, but not that dark. I would say, primary colors. Bright red, blue, green, yellow.
