The local paper never seems advertise saturday vacancies. My son is looking to work in a chemist (needs the experience before he goes to uni) Should we approach chemists direct. Is there a web site for saturday jobs?
If he wanted to work in a supermarket should he approach them directly?

Yes go direct to the shops and ask. Look in shop windows as you are walking round town or go to the jobcentre plus website and search local jobs there.

Agree with others that a polite, well-dressed direct approach is best - try shops that are big enough to have more than 2 or 3 staff, and preferably are independents - no corporate human resources to go through. Do some research first - try and find out the name of the manager and something about the store as this shows you are interested in working for them, not just working. If he gets an interview and they are to "let him know", get him to write a short letter to the interviewer, by name, thanking them for their time and saying that he is looking forward to hearing from them - he will be the only one to do that, and IMHO doubles the chance of getting at least a trial!

Hi There.
Going into stores, chemists etc direct and asking if they have any saturday vacancies is usually the best way to do it or even looking through your local directory/yellow pages etc and ringing round places which are easier for him to get to and asking that way is a good option too.
Hope this is of some help to you.
Good luck

It costs a lot of money to advertise vacancies and firms are reluctant to spend the money. Best way is to visit as many possibilities as possible and make it know that there is someone available to work if needed.

Approach supermarkets direct, but single chemists, well i reckon you should approach those by yourself and hand out his cv and dress smart. He will get one eventually.

till u completely hate your 'baker days' , i recommend u do a splash that and furnish to people on weekends. muffins, pies, cookies e.t.c. all styles of pastries reckoning on what u can handle. people could permit u be responsive to beforehand and then u upward thrust up early saturday to make and furnish. u be responsive to there are a number of gatherings and events on weekends. u could desire to commence by skill of letting your neighbours be responsive to or perhaps promote on the cyber web.

Approach prospect employers and ask for what you want. Honesty is always your best policy.
