Fliers. Simple, cheap, and easy to distribute. Or, cater something for free, like a church social meeting or some other gathering and people would really be thankful, you would definitely get some return business.

Small Business Marketing Strategy: Target the up-and-coming search engines

While Google still rules the roost when it comes to Internet search engines, and Yahoo is firmly entrenched in second spot, a number of new start-ups are hoping to give them a run for their money. And a good small business marketing strategy would be to check them out and see how you can make them work for your site!

Some of the new up-and-comers include:

Powerset (www.powerset.com): A "natural language" search engine

Hakia (www.hakia.com): A "meaning-based" search engine

Wikia(www.wikia.com): A "community-based" search engine

ChaCha(www.chacha.com): A "social networking-based" search engine

Snap (www.snap.com): A search engine that offers visual previews

It's a smart small business marketing strategy to continue optimizing for the Google, Yahoo, and MSN search engines as they are by far and away the most popular -- but niche search engines could provide new opportunities to reach your market. Be sure to check them out!

Join business groups in your town and show up at every meeting with flyers and cards, and even samples.

You could also throw an open house with free samples and ask people to write a testimonial. Pass out cards and give gifts or discounts for a referral.

I have several businesses, and I had to give some away so people could see how great it is.

Send out some samples to local Businesses. We get samples all the time where I work from area restaurants - and we're way more apt to recommend them when we know what they offer.

Go to your local hotels, visitor bureau, etc. that would need a caterer.

well i think its effective to tie up with some events companies, if they can get a taste of your food the better. Just ask them to put you on their list of caterers, provide them a nice brochure so that they can show them to their clients. also the best form of advertising id the WOM- word of mouth

Market your business by having your car or van have business information detailed on it.
