I love Marc Jacobs because his styles are classic and well constructed. Also, he seems to target teenagers and young adults so most of his design are fresh and fashion forward.

I can answer your main question better than its detail:
MGM costume designer Adrian. He is a star as much as the actors in the old movies. Delicious gowns and clever designs. Fantastic folds and lines. Think Shearer, Crawford, Garbo. Nothing beats the color fashion show scene in The Women. If I'm tuned to Turner Classic Movies and his name is in the opening credits, I'm sure to stick around if only to see the designs.
As for hip and popular modern designers, I don't know what sets any of them apart. I'll be interested in reading the answers of others.
But I'm sure that the best current designs use the best elements of old ones: line, and gorgeous fabric which fits the design.

My favourite label is Joe Browns. It's an online range of clothing. They've got a fantastic range of really unusual clothes. I am addicted.

Myself - because I feel I create convincing middle-way solutions to political problems and improvements to the structure of sporting events & in matters of textile: my wife coz she's amazing & I admire the way she can make clothing from scratch in this day & age.

i love all the damn brands..as long as they look good on me then why not buy it..but since i cant afford them..like prada..and gucci..channel..whatever else..i stick to brands that i can afford..like seven for all mankind..miss sixty...and othe name that are not to expensive...
i am very very petite..so it is very very hard for me to find clothes or jeans..
i love to shop but its hard when i go to like 10 stores or when i leave my house at 9 in the morning and come back home about 7at night with nothing..its furstrating..i wish i knew a store that carter for xtra xtra small people

I love donna karran. They are nice clothes, but they arent "slutty". The material is great, and it's not very expensive when you compare it to Dior, Chanel, D & G and etc..
