Pretty darn good.

In fact, some people even blow off school so they can practice more. After all, once you hit the big time, who really needs an education.................

I was hoping someone would ask this cause I know the exact answer. Back in 83 they ran a test to see how many kids stuck with hockey and that were good enough to go to the NHL. And as the years progressed more and more kids started to quit hockey. As the years kept going kids wernt good enough to progress. Then one out six THOUSAND were scouted. I forget how many kids there was but it was all that played and was born in 83. Then from that, only 1/600 were asked to come to training camp, then only like 1/60 were asked to join the team, the MINOR leauge team keep in mind. So you have somewhere like a 1 in 6,660 chance of making the NHL. Odds arnt in your favor. Unless you're the next sid the kid.

Pretty low. Do you live in US or Canada?
US - Do you play AAA hockey? Is your AAA hockey team one of the top in the nation? Do you play Junior A hockey? (not Junior B) Have you already been contacted by a scout by the time you're 16? If yes, maybe you do have a chance. If no, you have a 0.0001% chance of making the NHL

if you really love the game and are an exellent player nothing can stop you. but it would help to make it to a division 1 college team, that would be your best chance, you know, if you start and get noticed, but if college isn't for you or you dont happen to get noticed by a scout and pick up a scholarship, get into some jr. leageus and play your *** off, most kids that come as freshmen to a d1 team played a couple years for a jr. team, it'll take alot of time money and hard work.........good luck.......and go wings and Lakers(Lake superior state university)!

Well, there are 700 NHLers and over 1M people who play hockey in North America alone. Add in the numbers from Scandinavia and Eastern Europe and do the math.

Your chances are better than making the NBA, but I wouldn't bank on it.

Did you see the movie invincible??? When an NHL team has an open tryout maybe??? If you have been playing ice hockey all of your life maybe? If you have been playing in a european elite league maybe? If you played at a good eastern U.S. college (Boston, Michigan...etc)... Maybe??? Until then, keep dreaming???

Since, I am ME, and I'm NOT trying to make it into the NHL - I'd say that chances are near Zero.

If you can make it to a D1 college and start, you have a great shot..

If you can not make it to a D1 College team you have no shot...

One thing I can say to you is, Keep you dream alive, but don't count on any thing. Always have a back up plan...How do you do this..get has much education as you can..

Good Luck and maybe one day I will see you play for my Philadelphia Flyers....

I think something like 0.1% of North American players make it to the NHL.

"So you're saying there's a chance."

depends on how old you are, what skills you have, your experience (Division 1, Juniors or a stint in the minors), and how badly the nhl team needs you in the lineup.
