Or other award shows for that matter..

Are they as pointless as I think they are?

Ooh, I do, I do.
I liked the Oscars until the 90's, when suddenly everything got PC.
The silver screen actors were lovely, though, and I think Scorsese really deserved that Oscar, though.

But you're right; while I may look up the winners on the news, I never watch those award shows. They're never based on talent - only on politics and public sympathy.

In days of old, when knights were bold, the court jesters did not fare so well as today's modern entertainers. The re-numeration for services pay chart seems to be askew. The glitz and glamor is all part of the act and if you win a trophy, your pay scale is sure to increase. If you didn't win an Oscar, try the next trophy presentation.
The actors now think that money gives them brains and they become spokespeople for this, that and the other thing. The promoters know the actors popularity with the public will draw attention to their product or their cause and give them more money. The actors become smarter and on it goes.
I don't hate Oscar. I just think plumbers, electricians, mechanics and waitresses are more important, smarter and nicer than actors.

Its just the movie industry's way of making more money for their movies and patting themselves on the back. Waste of time
