Sure!! That's a great idea! You will need to start out breastfeeding with alot of knowlege about it and alot of encouragement. It's always good to be armed with as much info as possible in all areas of life but more so when you're becoming a mother. Good luck breastfeeding.

Absolutely! I wish I had. I didn't go to my first meeting until my son was 13 mos old and I was looking for support for toddler nursing. It never occured to me to go before the baby was born.

Actually, LLL encourages PG moms to attend. You can learn so much and you can build a support group for afterwards too. And you'll feel more comfortable calling the Leader if you have problems postpartum. AND sometimes the group members arrange to bring you meals postpartum and help out around the house, etc!

Also, each group has a bit of a different personality depending on the Leader and the moms who attend. If there is more than one in your area, you might try a couple of different ones to see which one is the best fit for you. Night meetings are more likely to have working moms and day meetings are more likely to be SAHM oriented, for example.

I think child birth classes are helpful--it takes some of the fright out of giving birth.

I didn't enjoy La Leche--a bit too militant for my tastes--but my child birth instructor was also a certified lactation consultant, and we talked a lot about breastfeeding, too, which I did find helpful.

Good luck!

Yes absolutely, the more you know the better it is going to be for you and your baby! I have personally signed up at the hospital where I'm having the baby for a breastfeeding class, a newborn class and super important a baby CPR class- I suggest you take the CPR class too.

I think going to parenting classes would be better just to learn tips. As far as giving birth, you will do it and don't need a class for it. I had 2 kids and didn't go to classes. I saw on movies to pant and blow away the pain when having a contraction. That really helped. Good Luck!

You might as well, it couldn't hurt. As long as you have the extra time.
