My sister just moved into a new house, and the door does not have a peephole. I feel that this is very unsafe for her and her children. There is no windows near the door to look out of either. I would like to install one for her but I do not know if you can install one into a metal door the same way you would a wooden door. If anyone has any advice for me I would greatly appriciate it.

Usually peep holes are made so that the barrel of the peep hole comes in two halves that screw together. So, all that is needed for the door is to drill a hole the size needed to accommodate the style peep hole you get. The only difference with the metal door is you have to use a drill bit or hole bit made to cut metal. You will also need a small rat tail metal file to smooth the edges after you bore the hole.

Nope, you're going to have to buy a new house to put around the peephole. Haha just kidding. Yeah, you can get a peephole from your local hardware store. I'm sure it'll come with instructions for installation. It shouldn't be hard.

when you buy the device,it will have instructions for installation.yes you can put one in a metal door, you do have to drill the hole.i would suggest that when you buy one, from home depot or Lowe's ,you ask a sales person for best info.or you can buy a camera device which is more expensive but easier to install.your choice, shop around.to drill into a metal door ,you may have to have a special drill,a sales person can also advise you on that.
good luck.
