I used to bite my nails to the point of making my cuticals bleed! It's a nervous habit. I forced my self to quit in my late teens and now have long, healthy, beautiful nails. My sister used to bite her also and could never stop so she bought some kind of stuff you brush on your nails to make them taste really nasty but she still bit them lol, I guess it's harder for some people. Try mind over matter with this habit. You can do it! Recognize when you're doing it and tell yourself to stop! It'll take time but it does work with these types of habits.
Good luck,
Tori

Starts as stress or tension as a kid. becomes a habit. I did for years..stopped.. Started using nail clippers and kept them with me all the time. Washed them often. and bought a nail file etc. .I'm a guitarist and good hands are important. Haven't bitten them in years..

It is true that fingernail biting stems from anxiety. Make sure to pinpoint what is bothering you so you can deal with it effectively in other ways.
