The Morning After Pill is available from doctors and family planning clinics, and can be bought over the counter at pharmacies for around £26 if you are over 16.

You can phone the Family Planning Associations Helpline on: 0845 122 8690
Or use the clinic finder at:
http://www.fpa.org.uk/finder/
for details of your nearest clinic.

You can ask at your GP's surgery for an emergency appointment.

If you are under 25, you can visit one of the 17 Brook Centres in the UK - for more information see:
http://www.brook.org.uk/content/M1_gotobrook.asp

You can also buy the emergency contraceptive pill from Marie Stopes Internation clinics for £30. See:
http://www.mariestopes.org.uk/uk/contraception-emergency.htm

The morning after pill isn't 100% effective.
It is 95% within 24 hours after unprotected sex, 85% within 25-48 hours, and lower after 48+ hours.

If you have left it too late for the emergency contraceptive pill then you can still have an IUD, also known as a Coil, fitted up to five days after unprotected sex, to prevent pregnancy occurring.

The IUD works by stopping an egg from being fertilised or implanted in your womb and can be left in as a form of regular contraception or removed after a normal period. It is 98%-99% effective.

This is so late but for anyone else reading this, GO TO BOOTS!!!, they will tell you to speak to a pharmacists which is the best thing to do, they respect your privacy, they don't ask your name, age or address they just inform you a lot on it and they let you ask questions, the best one to get is the ELLA ONE, it is £34.95p and its 1 pill this pill can be taken up to 5 days from when you had unprotected sex last, the other pill Lenvonelle is around £19-£20, this pill can be taken unto 72 hours after unprotected sex. if you an not pay these prices then go to the doctors or sexual health clinics for example the brooke and yo9u can get it for free. YOU CAN NOT BE SICK as you will have to get another pill, it takes 5hours for it too work and its best to take it with water, you may get headaches, you may feel sick (i did) Andomial pain, fatigue and VAGINAL BLEEDING (NOT RELATED TO YOUR PERIOD). I hope I've helped x

The morning after pill is available over the counter in all UK chemists. It costs about £20 or so.

The chemist is obliged to discuss with the customer some details of her health, and technically assure himself that she appears to be over 16 years.

The alternative is to go to any GP or Family Planning Clinic, where they are either given out or supplied as a free prescripton.

Levonelle 1500 or Levonelle one step, are best taken within 24 hours of intercourse but can be used up to 72 hours later, when they are less effective.

The way you ask the question suggests that you, and presumably your friend are quite young. If she is under 16 years then thoretically any male having intercourse will her, even with consent, could technically be imprisoned.

Finally if your friend is contemplating having intercourse in the future she should seek advise about the most suitable pre-intercourse contraception.

Go to boots or a pharmacy, your friend will have to pay it costs £25. Alternatively go to a NHS walk in centre, check your nearest one on the NHS website.

Be sure to get the pill as soon as possible, it will only work up to 72 hours after intercourse and is more effective the sooner it is taken.

Good luck

You can get the morning after pill at any chemist but will have to answer a few embarrassing questions before they give it over.

Any chemist so Boots or anyone of them on your High Street if you want to pay nearly £25.00. Or your doctor will do your friend a prescription for free but she's only got 72 hours.

Family planning clinic or over the counter in some chemists (but you probably need to pay in the chemist)

any family planning clinic will give you it for free, but the times they are open can be rubbish, other than that if your under a certain age they give it to you for free at boots. last time i went to accident and emergency at the local hospital because everywhere else was closed and it was a pretty long winded process and i had to go to a few different places but then ended up with a prescription which got me it for free x

You can buy MAP from all chemists and ask questions in priviate, this will cost you around £20. Otherwise go to the Dr's who will prescribe it free.
