I am nearly three months late for my period. I have had a ton of pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness, mood swings, dizzyness, swelling of the breasts (they appear a lot firmer and the nipples are darker in colour and my stomach has got bigger but I haven't put weight on anywhere else. However when I did a pregnancy test it came back negative.

I did several tests before deciding I definetly was not pregnant and went to the doctors to see what was wrong with me. The doctor said it sounded like pregnancy and sent me for a urine test. The test came back negative (no suprise there) so when I went back to the doctor she refused to do anything else.

I am now confused although I am sure I am not pregnant I am concerned it could be a cyst or a eptopic pregnancy. However the doctor swears that a urine test is 100% accurate and even shows eptopic pregnancy as well.

I don't want to be a hypocondriac so feel stupid demanding tests etc. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

It is doubtful that you are pregnant but if you want further proof, have a BLOOD test. It is 100% accurate whereas urine tests have had false negatives. See another doctor and go into a walk-in clinic if you don't want to deal with the same doctor. It is a little puzzling why you stopped your period if you're healthy so I would have a thorough exam and maybe see if you should have blood tests to make sure everything is okay. You sound like you want to be pregnant and are just disappointed you are not and maybe all the stress has made you stop menustrating for the time being. Assuming you are realtively young and all is well, relax and don't worry about getting pregnant.

Urine test are accurate but not 100%
If your concernd then go to the ER. Have them do a sonogram and blood test.
A friend of mine had a tubal pregnancy(an ectopic pregnancy in the fallopian tube) She took a pregnancy test and it was pos. Then she started getting signs that it was ectopic she took another test to see if it was still positive (if it was neg she figured she was starting to miscarry) it was neg and she went to the doctors and they told her that it was a miscarriage. She didnt want to believe it and took another test and it was pos. Then she went to the hospital and they did a bunch of test and told her it was a tubal pregnancy. They told her the reason she got different test results was because the levels rise and drop with most ectopic pregnancies. Since it was a tubal the pregnancy had to be terminated, since your tubes CAN NOT carry a pregnancy. They would burst and cause you to hemorrhage thus you and the fetus would die.

so please just go to the ER and get checked out and they cant refuse to treat you. If your doctors were wrong you could also sue them because they put your life at risk.
..if they say its deffanitly not a pregnancy of any sort ask them to help you find out what is wrong.
hope everything goes well and sorry if this is long.

Well before i found out i was pregnant i went to the doctor to say i was feeling really tired all the time and a bit run down,i thought i might be anaemic or something anyway i gave a urine sample and never heard nothing back so i presumed things were ok then i later found out i`d been pregnant and not just pregnant either, when i went for my 1st scan i was 24 weeks thinking i was only half that,so what i was trying to say is that don`t trust all doctors as even they can make mistakes, trust your own instinct when it comes to your health and go to another doc if need be,goodluck.

Get a blood test done, or tell them u've had a positive test 3 months ago, then they'll send you for a scan 12weeks you'll be able to see if anything there-probably not the best idea stick with bloodtest, a midwife or doctor should be able to feel your stomach now and possibly tell as between 12-16 weeks as your baby will be pushing up over your pelvic bone ask to see another doctor.

I think you should go straight back to Docs and ask for a blood test. Don't be afraid of seeming to be a hypocondriac as that's what docs are there for - so many of us feel embarrassed to ask something when we have no need to feel this way! I know I do so I take my hubby with me now for moral support - I'm not so scared when he's with me!! In this world sometimes you have to shout to be heard and Docs can be intimidating and often I've gone home and been really annoyed with myself for not being firmer! Be firm not afraid! Good luck!

I would definetly have a blood test done and if there is a Planned Parenthood in your area they are pretty cheap!! Urine test are pretty acurate with all three of my pregnancy's they showed up under 4 weeks...but everybody is differnt too! But get a blood test!! Then your mind will be at ease...

I'm sorry to hear you are having to go through all this. First off I would try and find a doctor that will listen to your concerns and address them for you. She should have probably sent you for a blood test and an ultrasound to see what's going on and maybe find out what may be causing all the symptoms you have described.

it is true what your doc says if you were having an eptopic, it would show a positive result, i used 2 have pregnancy symptoms when we was trying 4 a baby, and i wasnt pregnant, and this was cos i wanted it so much, it was in my imagination. If you are realy worried see another doctor. xx Good luck

As far as I am aware, you cant have a false positive test, but you can have a false negative test. Tell your doctor that you would like a second opinion on what is wrong, they cant refuse without a good reason!
