I think it depends on where I was when I'd see it.
Such as, in my house, YES! In a store, resturant, YES!
Out in the fields, no, in a barn, nope, so it all depends on where we were when I saw them.
They have a right to live to, just not in my house!

Maybe if it caught me off guard but it wouldn't have to be a rat or mouse to do that. So really I don't think I would "freak out" just a yelp to being startled then "oh" a mouse or rat.

I wouldn't freak out but I would definitely be startled. My cat had a mouse and let it lose and it ran across my bare foot, I did jump but I didn't scream or anything like that. I also had a mouse jump at me and bounce off my shoulder, I did have a little trouble breathing properly but other then that I was fine.

I do have a tendency to jump on chairs if I see live ones in a house. However, if they are dead or a lab rat I don't freak out. My parents cat has a tendency to catch mice outdoors and then bring them close to the house. I don't touch them, but they do not scare me at that stage.

YES... I would and I have! I've only seen mice in houses and went flying onto chairs and backs of couches. I've never seen a wild rat so I can only imagine how I'd react. I'd probably faint...lol.

Pet mice are waaaaay different than wild mice. I own 5 pet mice and they are awesome! But if I saw a wild one - I'd probably run and scream.

No...actually domesticated rats make pretty good pets...I had one that was smarter than one of my dogs!
