Pornography demeans both the men and the women who both appear and watch it, because porn inflames passion, takes something as sacred as human sexuality and makes it base and unreal. Secondly, men and women are dehumanized and become objects of distorted passions. Finally, many porn actors are there not by choice, but because of extortion, prostitution, or drug addiction. True, there are a very select few who are professionals and make a great living. But they are the exception and not the rule, and their material gains come at the expense of the continued exploitation and victimization of other people.
Another good point is that pornography is a starting point for sexual addiction for many people. Sexual addiction has ruined many lives, families, and careers.
Lastly, while it is true that not all who participate in watching or producing pornography go on to become rapists or social deviants, the converse is true. The vast majority of serial killers and rapists were addicted to pornography.

Well, to answer this question you have to consider a few things first. Do you think gay porn is demeaning to men ? Most people back off from the topic of gay porn because they accept it as there sexual orintation. But for women in the industry they get it from all side. The left and the right. Basically they have nowhere to turn eccept toward the industry for support. No I don't think that it demeans.

Porn is, as they say, a four letter word. Thus, I would say that it is something that should only be viewed or participated in by adults who feel that the human body in an art form and should not be seen in a disgusting manor.
Now, this doesn't mean that men and women should force anyone into the act of creating porn, but only by consensual means from BOTH parties.
Porn is NOT the place to ever have or ever be able to view underage children. To me, I feel that it is very disgusting to exploit children that way. Anyone doing that should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and then some.

First I'll say I know full well to expect thumbs down from feminists here who think my response is trash simply because I don't agree, & they will procede to illrationally think I'm one of those bitter guys who hates feminism like some on here do:
crankj92 - Finally a woman who thinks clearly without bias. What you say is exactly true with cut clean logic, no emotional bias (opinions instead of facts) that I usually see in this section.
Particularly when bisexual women in the legit porn industry are enjoying themselves having sex with other girls to satisfy themselves. Some are filmed by other women, get paid well, and responsibly protect against diseases.
I will point out though that porn demeans SOME women, NOT ALL. It demeans the ones who forced in the industry, and opressed to stay in it and demean themselves, but usually that happens in the crooked side of the porn industry.
When feminists say "porn demeans women", they're thinking in absolutes which is completely illogiocal. Porn can't possibly demean ALL women absolutely, it demeans some but not all,and those who aren't demeaned by it is NOT a small number like some will believe. To say it does demean absolutely is to say no women are happy doing it, and/or that none have willingly made the choice to do it once or twice in their lives.

Sometimes work in the sex industry is demeaning and sometimes not. There are women who are in sex trades because they enjoy what they do, because they want to be there, and there are women there because they lack the training and skills to support themselves and sometimes their families at the jobs they can get, or because they're in abusive relationships, or because they're supporting a substance abuse habit.
I think the women who are choosing to be in the sex industry because they want to have entirely different experiences than women who are in the sex industry because they're forced into it or trapped in it. Some women may find that they're empowered by the work, and others may feel demeaned by it. It's hard to generalize about the experience, and declare it all good or bad. The best answer, really, I suppose is "Sometimes."

Porn objectifies women. Maybe I'm a little weird, but I shudder at the idea of a strange man "beating off" to my picture!
It makes men think that women are mere playthings...not people to be loved and cared for. And wasn't that what the nineteenth-century feminists were against--treating women as objects?

By showing that to other people they get exposed to preconceptions that they make their own.
It does demean anybody and any action shown.
Porn creates expectations, fetishes and deviant behavior, or at the very least awaken them; they would be less prevalent out there if there was less chance of running into it.

What "Jack C" says is correct, porn is demeaning to men AND women because it is a bastardization of real human passion and sexuality, not only does it objectify the people involved, it objectifies sex itself. It's empty, soul-less titillation, and teaches those that become addicted to it to separate sexuality from any real, human context.

Again, another question posted with it's own answer in the very next breath: Does porn really demean women?...if you work in the porn industry...because you want to be. "
It demeans BOTH sexes.

I think that it can make a woman how low self-esteem, like the are one worth the $ amount they get. Our bodies are temples and shouldn't be out there for everyone to see every nook and cranny of someone's hoo-hoo or haa-haa. Why would anyone put a $ amount for their bodies when they are priceless. I think that it demeans BOTH women and men in alot of ways.
