You can't pronouce them or spell them because they are weird. Need to remember the child is stuck with the name unless they chose to change it and some do!

People are seeking uniqueness, that is all. As long as they don't mind spelling out their names for the rest of their lives, it doesn't matter what anyone thinks.

A long time ago, and still in some cultures, children were named by spiritual guides, according to their birthdate and astrological signs, as well as characteristics they displayed. In some cultures, children were not named until they were a year or more old. Also, people were named for great personalities, or biblical or other scriptural characters. Now, people are choosing names according to their heritage, or names that sound like their ancestral language. In other cases, they just like the sound itself.

I once told a person from India what my Cherokee name is, and they laughed and laughed. The name in their language describes the back-end of a horse! So much for native pride! lol

I agree with you. All it does is enforce the differences in our culture instead of uniting us. It's just like black history month and kawanza, All made up.
