Interracial relationships have been going on almost as long as there have been humans.

The current 'cultures' just replaced old 'cultures'.

Same with current 'identities'. Those things will be replaced anyway in the future, regardless of interracial relationships.

The idea of beauty is a social phenomenon, not a racial one.

Religion is not skin-colour exclusive, as far as I know.

Hairstyle... what? I didn't think there was a single black hairstyle, Beyonce alone has had about 50 different ones...

Truth be told, whether breeding takes place solely within a race, or interracially, all those things will be destroyed and replaced with new ones.

That's strange, some white people said the same thing about marrying blacks about 100 years ago, that it would lead to the decline of their race and culture.
People have a right to marry who they want, race doesn't matter. You need to learn more from Martin Luther King, a day will come when every race is equal. But it can only happen if we all work together. Belief in racial superiority and isolationism will do more harm than good in the long run.
What matters is that the two individuals love each other.
In fact breeding with other races is a good thing, it helps break the cultural barrier the minorities themselves made and will lessen the division in our society.

I don't think its a problem of extinction, there will always be people that want to keep their race pure and might go so far as inbreeding to keep it that way. I really don't care actually. I wish there were no such thing, or at least not so much emphasis on race. I have a daughter by a white man, she retains some features of both races, she has my dark brown eyes.. her father's hair, and the rest is an equal blending of the races. She's a little beauty queen, looks hispanic... I believe people can do whatever they want with their bodies, procreate with whoever they want as long as it isn't like sheep and man, or relatives...

It is a good question but should be a bit broader...black people are getting married to other races = more people in othe reaces are getting married to black people. True? Indirectly there are many inter-racial marriages with kids to go with it .... I think the black race as well as most other races would not be pure anymore and culture, ethnic beauty, hairstyle and all will be moodified. not extinct.

I appreciate how zealous you are in your postings. However you may want to improve your writing abilities to help your points seem a little more valid... for example you might want to use the possessive adjecitve 'our' instead of 'are'.

Also to comment on some of the above postings: People only have to choose a racial identity because our society chooses to categorize people. Biracial is my race/identity - I refuse to label myself as Black because that would be a denial of who I am as a whole person. Black only describes part of me in a racial sense and I embrace all of who I am racially not just part of who I am.

To some people it may be more comfortable that a Biracial person call themself Black just because they have a brown complexion. However, my identity doesn't change with the whims or for the comfort of other people.

As far as Black people, or any other group losing their culture, etc., as a result of intermarriage, I don't believe that will happen because culture is something that, is passed down and runs strong; it takes a lot to eliminate it. Cultures may be modified and influenced but I don't believe complete annhilation of a culture will result from high rates of intermarriage.

I do believe there is a bit of a division that is related to this issue in the black community but it is not directly related to biracial people. Black people have a contorversy amongst themselves when it comes to light skin vs. dark skin, 'good' hair etc. (There are historical origins about this controversy which I am not going to go into unless questioned further.) and I believe that Biracial/Multiracial people who have a Black parent/background (who usually have 'good' hair and lighter complexion) are reflection/reminder of this.

What I don't understand is why there is pressure from the Black community for Biracial people to conform by labeling themselves Black? What difference does it really make to the Black community? Why isn't this an issue for the white community, especially if the child has one white parent and a parent of another race? I think I will post this as a separate question...

I don't think so or rather I would like to think so. There will always be some idiot that will see a biracial person as someone less than them. There will always someone that think interracial relationships as wrong.

I have seen some beautiful biracial kids. If a person decides to have kids with a person from another race, the kid should be told about both of their families. After all, are you your mother's child or your father's?

I think that interracial relationships should be encouraged. It might be the best way of getting rid of discrimination and the best qualified person gets the job. Maybe in the future, people won't divide themselves up as much.

That's funny because mixed black people are already considered black in others eyes. The only time people think mixed kids cause division is if they WANT them to cause division. And besides, every black person has been mixed with white or something somewhere down the generational line. So, leave the mixed kids alone already.

I don't remember being charged with making sure the black race doesn't become extinct, first of all. Secondly, I think that crime, drugs, and lack of education will be the downfall of blacks, or anyone for that matter, long before interracial relationships. To suggest otherwise is absurd.

Instead of focusing on my family and the choices we've made in our lives, how about focusing on the increasing crime rates in the inner cities, the mindboggling number of black men engaging in criminal activities that land them in prison, the drug epedemic that has been killing off blacks since before I can remember and the disturbing amount of female-fronted households in the black communities.

Those are your problems, not interracial dating.

no people in general cause division. Two black people can have two kids if one is light and one is dark black people tend to like one over the other because of if. I think people ALL people just don't know how to feel good about themselves without putting others down. Take Mo'nique she makes herself and other large people feel better about being over weight by talking bad about skinny people. Things don't divide people, people do.

First and foremost it is necessary to get maximum input from people by using correct grammar: it is our not "are". Moreover, I think you mean biracial, not "interracial". Biracial meaning mostly a mixing of the races, usually attributed to blacks and whites. Interracial is usually meant for the couples in a relationship.
Secondly, you don' thave to worry about blacks losing their identity or natural African beauty, by mixing with other races, just look at Prince, Jada Pinkett, Halle Berry, Vanessa Williams, Shalamar and Barak Obama. When people see them, they see black, albeit somewhat lighter skinned.

But that is what it means to be black: we come in all shades. Most American Blacks look different than African Blacks simply due to the Slave Masters raping the young pretty black slaves. I can only imagine the amount of anger and helplessness that her family felt, especially her father, at not being able to protect her.

Third, nowadays, unlike the recent past, many biracial people tend to consider themselves black. Almost all black/white males considered themselves black and have taken on strong black themes in their personalities. Until recently, black/white females tended to try to fit in with the whites. This was because they felt that life would easier being white both because of their lighter skin, and because they thought marrying a white male would make life easier financially.

Not that many black/white women accept their blackness, like Halle Barry or Vanessa Williams. Many accept it as one has to accept a missing limb, like Dawn Chong or those that dress like "Crazy Spice". It is a mental psychosis of "Yea I am a sista!" , yet they will only have white friends and date white men all while acting in the strongest of black female stereotypes.

So, to answer your question, Blacks don't have to feel like they are going to be second class to a growing group who are a mixture of our race. Two things are important in such a biracial child, a strong understanding and acceptance of the black roots and a strong black father.
