John Wayne!! He was to cool!!

I just want to say that I am surprised at the good choices above. All are great talents. Monroe and Wayne surely do endure as well they should. Monroe's films were well written and she was always top notch. At the time she was written off by many as a flash in the pan and her brilliant timing and magnetism were diminished by the "cheesecake" factor - these were the 50s, afterall. But, she emerged as one of the true originals with talent that would have endured. With John Wayne, he made so many films that it is in the hundreds when you could all those cheesy westerns he churned out in the 30's. But his films from the 40s on were overwhelmingly quality product. Except, of course, his film "The Green Berets," a vanity product (written to his specific political view of the war), which is a howler today if you see it. Even at the time it was a howler. Poor David Janssen, playing it so straight as the reporter "investigating" the Vietnam conflict - which even when the film was released was lost and the public knew it. John Wayne was politically so far right he could have fallen off the radar. But, supreme talent and presence overcomes all. My dad would only go to John Wayne films!! If you ever get the chance to see "Hondo" in 3-D go for it. Great 3-D and terrific film.
Which brings me to that great last line delivered by Gloria Swanson in "Sunset Boulevard": As a crazed film great of the silents but long forgotten, she slowly steps down a long stairway toward a phony camera and says, "I'm ready for my closeup now, Mr. DeMille." The line was all the more dramatic because just minutes earlier she had told the detective, in reference to herself and her great film contemporaries, "We had faces (back) then." So incredibly true. But Julia Roberts and Reese Witherspoon and Matt Damon will endure because they, too, have faces that say "star."

I was having a hard time trying to pick just one movie star, but I have settled on Tony Leung Chiu Wai. I enjoyed watching the movies he has starred in, most notably 'Chungking Express', Infernal Affairs, In The Mood For Love', and '2046'. He reminds of old cinema great Clark Gable. He is cool and charismatic and it makes you (if you're a guy) want to be like him and even try to copy his mannerisms. Plus, he has a fan in Robert DeNiro so anytime an actor of DeNiro's caliber gives an actor praise, he or she is worth checking out.

Reese Witherspoon. As one of the younger actresses she seems like she is in a class of her own. She always dresses classy, never looks like a sl*t (definitely not a sell-out), & she is a beautiful & intelligent woman & a great actress. She cares about the image that she is projecting... she behaves like a civilized person in public. She picks interesting & funny roles, & nails it every time. She is a hard working mother, & takes her job seriously. She is a great role model for young women everywhere. She seems to be happy in her life & has a bubbling personality. I enjoy watching her movies. Everytime I see her, I have to smile.

Ron Perlman

He'll take almost any role, because he believes in taking care of his family.

His best role, IMO, was on TV. He played Vincent in the "Beauty and the Beast" TV series with Linda Hamilton. What gorgeous blue eyes! What a heavenly voice! I get goose bumps just thinking about him.

He's tall, about 6' 4", and has gorgeous hair, unless it gets cut for a movie role. I wish they'd stop cutting his hair. It's really beautiful.

I met him once, too.

Kevin Kostner. He has stood the test of time, had some good and bad movies, and keeps himself out of the tabeloids. I absolutely love the movie Dragonfly, and recommend you rent it of you haven't seen it. It is excellent.
