Council tax is based on bands that range from A to F or G. A is the lowest tax paying band so in band C you are near the bottom.

The bands were based on house prices in the local area when Council tax first came out, and you can call your local council to see what the bands are and how much your tax bill will be. Also remember that you can apply for a single person discount if you live on your own or have any under 18's or students in the property with you.

If you are in a Band 'C' property, depending on your County Council & Local Councils Location in the South of England, You can look forward to paying your Local Council a Tax of anywhere between £965.00 p.a. to £1,642.00 p.a.

Plus every April you get to enjoy a little game of trying to budget for the following years increase!

never heard of councils putting ppl in bands for a house.....but band c is more likely for council tax....im in band d, so ur place is worth a bit more than mine, band a is the lowest. nothing to worry about.
