This phrase doesnt make any sense to me. Great minds dont think alike, great minds come up with original ideas and concepts. Conformed minds think alike.

Does anyone know the origin of this phrase or what the logic behind it is?

Great minds come up with their own unique ideas, but they all share the same kinds of higher level thought processes. In other words, there is a certain way their brains work, the way they think is different than common people.

This theory has been studied and been develiped into a ystem where you can learn to think like the geniouses of history, or even a different version of yourself.

look up NLP, and a book called "How to think Like Leonardo Davinci"

I don't know the origin but have heard it used in many ways. Example: Being nice or making fun of someone.
