1) A star is a burning ball of material who's light can be seen from light years away, the material a star is initially composed of are simple atoms which would be gaseous on earth but due to the immense gravity are a liquid in the star. As a star burns the simple atoms undergo nuclear fusion to create larger atoms which would not be gaseous on earth but are liquid in the star due to the intense heat. At the surface of a star where the material is not so confined the intense heat turns it into gas and plasma which is what gives a star it's brightness.

2) No one knows what the biggest star is, because we have not discovered them all.

3) No one knows what the brightest star is, because we have not discovered them all.

A star is a ball of mostly Hydrogen with some helium and an assortment of other elements under extreme pressure and temperature. The reason it does not blow apart or collapse is because an equilibrium has been reached between pressure and temperature.
We do not know what the biggest star is. So far it is the Pistol star.
Serious is the brightest star visible by the naked eye. But it is not the brightest star known. There are others by far brighter.
Simple rule: Stars are classified roughly by their colour. So Blue is bright Red is dim and Yellow is in between. There are also extremes. On the bright side you have Novas and Super Novas and on the dim side you have Neutron stars with zero light emissions.

There are over 100 billion galaxies each with over 100 billion stars. It is obvious that we haven' even started to scratch the surface of what is out there. So all the answers here should be seen as transitory and not absolute. The answers could easily change tomorrow.

1) a star is a gas ball, with a very high temperature. It gets it's energy from nuclear burning.
2)nobody knows which star is biggest, but of course it will be a super giant (just google the term if u don't know), or a white hole (if it exists. again google it if u don't know).
3)the brightest star as seen from earth is 'Sirius A' ( 'the big dog' as it is known in astro community. for your info - this dog has a pup with it 'the Sirius B' which is a white dwarf. and if some body says 'alfa century' is the brightest, then it is not right , it is the 'closest' star to earth other than sun).

Most answers are accurate.

Stars are like our sun they give out light. They are of different size but are like ball of fire.

Pistol is the biggest known star.

Sun is the closest to us so it is the brightest, but we do not call it a star it is our sun. So brightest star would be biggest star also and that is Pistol.

PS
Relatively Sun is so close that during the day light hours we cannot see any other star or planets with nacked eye but the moon.

Q's 1 & 3 is OK. But, the 2nd question itself and answers are mostly wrong.

Pistol star is believed as the biggest star of Milky Way Galexy and not in the universe. Humans yet to develop VLMT (very large mirror telescope) and means to inject in to the proper orbit. We have heard about millions of galaxies in the universe. But, at present, they are appearing just as stars from the earth. It is due to extremely large distances from the earth. Now, to define the biggest star and find the extraterrestrial lives, we need to check each and every part of different galaxies, which is next to impossible for humans, now and in the future. So, your question has no meaning as long as the Astronomy is only on assumptions. I think I will get the best answer reward from you. What do you say?

Star is a a self-luminous gaseous celestial body of great mass which produces energy by means of nuclear fusion reactions, whose shape is usually spheroidal, and whose size may be as small as the earth or larger than the earth's orbit.
The largest known star is the Pistol Star.
The brightest star in the sky is the sun followed by Sirius.

A star is a massive, luminous ball of plasma. Stars group together to form galaxies, and they dominate the visible universe.

Sirius is the brightest

The largest star that is known is a star in the constellation of Auriga, the charioteer. Its name is Epsilon Aurigae. It is thought to be a gigantic star that is about 2,700 times the size of the Sun!

example of star is sun which can emit its on light, they are also called luminous bodies i.e emiting their own light

2) Pistol star...

But ..the answer for

3) From our planet - The Sun would be the brightest star, the answer for the brightest star would depend on your point of view...outside of our solar system, it would be the nearest star (sun) in you line of site.

star is nothing like sun, infact all stars are like sun ,sun is where near to us (or earth) so we see it bright and big, stars are very far from us ,we see them as small ,it is very difficult to say biggest and brightest star , may be there is much bigger and brighter star than sun what we see, all the best in exploring the space you will enjoy it
