I'm sooooo with you on this one,

My 11 yr old went as Hermione Granger from Harry Potter last year. Crimped her hair, topped on a tie and gave her a chopstick to wave around.

This year she's a cheerleader from High School The Musical. Netball skirt. T shirt, Bunches and pompoms made from tissue paper.

Nightmare I know, why cant we get a bit more notice.

Good luck

Hmmm... From any book? Try Princess Mia from the Princess Diaries. Get her a long dress, and some work boots. Then put her hair into curls or something similar, and have her wear a tiara.
Or Maybe someone from the Baby-sitters Club. Depending on what colour her hair is, and what type it is. If she is Kristy or whatever her name is, pull her hair into a ponytail and sort of rough it up a bit. If she's Claudia, make it very very very straight. Stacy had wavy hair, so that might be good, as well.
She could also be Karen from Baby sitters Little Sisters books, who had crimped hair and glasses.

Just a few thoughts. I bet you could research what they look like online!

Ramona or Beatrice Quimby.

At least, I think that's their names.

Normal kids, wore their hair in pig tails and liked to wear overalls (that were a little too short) and a t-shirt.

Dressing up as Hermoine from Harry Potter would be cool. I like the uniforms their wear in the movies. Plain navy skirt, knee socks, white button-down and a navy cardigan or pullover.

Been a while since I've read any books for that age group so I'm not remembering much.

What about one of the characters from Harry Potter? They are popular books right now. Or Lord of the Rings(Liv Tyler character IE The Hobbit)Tell her she has to dress obvious or all her friends will ask who she is and she'll get tired of explaining who she is. Is it possible she could dress as a librarian?

Hi!

Would Bridget Jones' Diary be a bit too risque?

She could wear tights, a skirt and a blouse, have her hair up and take a pad n pen!

Not too sure wether the teacher would appreciate it though!

What about Mary Kate and Ashley? There's a whole set of books about their adventures.

Hope this helps!

Best of luck!

As all kids are mad about Harry potter ;maybe you could try Hermione. Just need to mess her hair up a bit and give her a stick that looks like a wand.
hope it works out OK:

Have her wear one of her own cool outfits and go as one of the Babysitters Club or she could go as Nancy Drew, just wear a skirt and blouse with a ponytail. Or if she has the right outfit she could go as Laura Ingles Wilder long skirt and pigtails.

Go for Lyra out of Philip Pullman's dark materials trilogy. She just needs to look a bit scruffy & dirty. Don't brush her hair in the morning - perfect.
